Surajkund fair is one of the most important festivals of Delhi and NCR which people eagerly wait every year.  This festival showcases cultural events, folk dance, puppet shows, folk music from different parts of India.

Every year the craze for Surajkund is increasing among the people. The place is famous for the fair since 2018 and every year, witnesses thousand and millions of visitors round the world.

When does Surajkund Mela Happen?

Every year, from 1st to 15th February the fair is organised. Everyone who is craft and cultural diversity lover, attends the annual Surajkund Crafts Mela. People all over the world come to specially visit this place and take away with them the memories of rich Indian culture and its rich heritage.

Surajkund Mela of Art and Craft Location in Delhi

Surajkund is located in Faridabad, Haryana which is 8kms in distance from South Delhi. The name surajkund is derived from the fact that it is an artificial kund or reservoir which is built on the Aravalli hills in semi-circular form.

The word “Surajkund” literally means “Lake of the Sun” on the name of an artificial lake which is constructed in Aravalli hills. Every year the Mela is organised based on a theme.

The place is said to be built by Gujjar king Suraj Pal of Tomar dynasty in the 10th century.

This is built-in the shape of the rising sun as the king was believed to worship the sun.
