Excessive lack of sleep can take a toll on your health causing many health-related problems. How Much Sleeping is too Much?

Need of sleep decreases with age. As per the statistics of National Sleep Foundation a newly born baby needs 15-17 hours of daily sleep.

While the amount of sleep a person needs can vary depending on their age, lifestyle, and individual needs, the general recommendation for adults is to get between 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. However, sleeping too much can also have negative effects on a person’s health.

It’s ok to sleep extra once in a while, especially during weekends. And, sometimes if you put off your alarm to sleep more, its ok as it’s not going to harm you anyway.

Some studies have suggested that consistently sleeping more than 9 or 10 hours per night may increase the risk of health problems such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and depression. Additionally, oversleeping can also lead to feelings of grogginess, headaches, and a general lack of energy and motivation throughout the day.

But habitually on routine basis, snoozing off for longer duration can have nasty side effects.
