P.V Sindhu is one of the best Indian female badminton player in the world. She always plays a spectacular game. Who can forget the brilliant performance of the player in Rio Olympics 2016 against Carolina Marin in the finals.

Though she lost in the finals of the match and had to satisfy with the silver, but after defeating also she became the first ever female Indian to win silvers in the Olympics.

The whole world and especially Indians were glued to their television sets and watched this match till the end.

She always works hard on her game and this is clear from her achievements also. With her hard trial and perspiration she became the first ever female badminton player to win the gold in the world championship.

Early Life and Childhood of PV Sindhu

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu was born in 2000 to P.V Ramana and P. Vijaya. PV Sindhu. She started playing badminton at a very tender age of eight years.

Her parents were professional volley-ball players but despite that she chose badminton as her professional game. Her father has been a recipient of Arjuna Award.

Sindhu chose Badminton as she was highly inspired by the success of Pullela Gopichand – the All England Open Badminton Champion of 2001. She still takes and practice under her coach Gopichand.

Training and Achievements of PV Sindhu

Sindhu learnt the basics of badminton under the guidance of Mehboob Ali at the badminton court of Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad. In this way, Mehboob Ali was her first coach. She later joined Pullela Gopichand’s Badminton Academy.

Sindhu started showing dedication in the sports in the Gopichand academy and never ran away from hard work and daily practice session. She would travel a distance of 56 kms from her residence daily to reach the academy without even a break. Her parents told in an interview how she would take the whole world on her head whenever missed a single training.

Gopichand also said that, ” the most striking feature in Sindhu’s game is her attitude and the never-say-die spirit.”Under-10 years category, she won the 5th Servo all India ranking championship in the doubles category. She also won the singles titles at the Ambuja cement all India ranking.

PV Sindhu also won the under-14 team gold medal at the 51st National school games in India.

Her determination and hard work paid her well in the Rio Olympics 2016, where she reached the final by defeating Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals. In the final, she played against Carolina Marin from Spain. Carolina beat Sindhu in three sets in the 83-minute match.

She won silver in the Rio Olympics and became the first and the youngest individual from India to bag any Olympic Silver medal representing India.
