Who is Darshan Dhaliwal?

Darshan Dhaliwal is US-based billionaire businessman, and currently 71 years old. He came into news when was deported during farmer’s protest in rallies on October 23-24, 2021. He was not allowed to enter India as he was supporting the protesting farmers.

Darshan Dhaliwal was deported because he was organising langar to offer food to the protesters.

Dhaliwal also owned biggest chain of gas stations in US. Darshan Dhaliwal would live in Rakhra village near Patiala before he moved to Milwaukee in the US in 1972.

Darshan Dhaliwal received Pravasi Bharatiya Samman from India’s President Draupadi Murmu. He got this award for his contribution in business and community welfare to the society.

Darshan Dhaliwal was deported because he was helping the protesting farmers at the Sindhu border.

Darshan Dhaliwal told that PM Modi met him in the presence of around 150 people in his residence and apologised for the episode. He told that PM Modi said, “Hum se galti ho gayi thi jo humne aap ko wapis bheja, aap ka baddapan hai ki hamare kehne par aap phir aye [We committed a mistake by deporting you but you were gracious to accept our invitation.”

Darshan Dhaliwal also said that he was helping the farmers for food and stay only. He was not in favour and against of the laws of the protest.
