Kadambini Ganguly – Women Reformer of British Ruling India

Kadambini Ganguli

There have been many women reformer in India out of one of the strongest woman was Kadambini Ganguly. She was the daughter of Brahmo reformer Braja Kishor Basu.

Early life of Kadambini Basu

Kadambini was born on 18 July 1861 in Bengal Presidency during British rule in India. She worked a lot for women empowerment especially with Abhay Charan Mallick with whom she started a women’s emancipation at Bhagalpur.

Her upbringing happened in that India where the women education was not considered good especially for those who belong to an upper caste Bengali community. Kadamabini belonged to an upper caste Bengali community but despite that she completed her education.
