What is the purpose of NATO?

The main purpose with which NATO was established is to guarantee the security of all its members through military and political means.

When was NATO formed?

NATO, an intergovernmental military alliance was established in the aftermath of World War II. There was a treaty called North Atlantic treaty that was signed on 4 April 1949.

Why was NATO established?

The whole world got scared with the happening world war. The whole world wanted not to repeat such incidents in future. To ensure this never to happen again, many countries of the world came together to establish the United Nations.

To strengthen this formation, a military organization was also created. According to this, if a country does not follow the rules, then strict action will be taken against it by the military organization.

For this, many countries involved in this decided to share their army among themselves. In this way, when the armies of many countries got together, this organization was formed which was named NATO.

Is NATO an Army?

NATO is an alliance of 30 countries which are committed to support and provide military support during any need.

It does not have any separate army as such but the command structure that it has is comprised of both military and civilian personnel from all of its member states.
