Recently I encountered with the oldest surviving man from India. He hails from Varanasi and at this age also he is as active as a person would be in his twenties.
This man was born on 8th August 1896 and is an ardent believer of God. His name is “Shri Swami Sivanand” who is a proud receiver of Padma Shri.
Who is Shri Swami Sivanand?
Swami Sivananada is a restless sage who continuously works for the betterment of mankind. He is a firm believer of god, he and the members of Sivanand Pariwar help the society through several serviceful activities.
Life of Shri Swami Sivanand Baba
Swami ji was born on 8th Auguest 1896 in a Bengali Brahmin Goswami family in Bahubal Village Haripur. His father was Srinath Goswami and mother name was Bhagabati Devi.
His parents would survive by asking alms. They handed over him to a monk when he was just 4 years old. The family lived in so much poverty that his sister died due to the lack of food.
His parents died on the same day (mother before sun rise and father after sun rise) on the same day. Swami ji burn their dead bodies on the same funeral pyre.
He dedicated his entire life for the service of the poor people.
