2. PPF: Public Provident Fund is a scheme in which you can save upto 2.5 lakhs in a year. The minimum amount in the account should be Rs. 500. To date it provides a return at the interest rate of 7%. It’s locking period is 15 years. You can open your PPF account in any government bank or in a post office.
3. SCSS: Senior Citizen Saving Plan is for those who are senior citizens and are 60 or above 60 years. It’s current this scheme provides return at the rate of 7.4%. Once can deposit maximum 15 lakhs in this account and the minimum amount deposited should be Rs. 1000. Its maturity period is 5 years.
4. ELSS: Equity Linked Saving Scheme is a mutual fund investment scheme. In this scheme the locking period is of 3 years. Rate of interest can vary from bank to bank. Once can have this scheme in any bank. Its interest rate varies from 2% to 7% normally.
5. Sukanya Samridhi Yojna: If you have a daughter of 10 years old, you can open her Sukanya Samridhi Yojna account in post office. Its minimum balance in account should be Rs. 250 and maximum you can deposit Rs. 1.5 lakhs. Its current interest rate is 7.6%. This account matures when your daughter attains 21 years of age.
